Leslie Askew

Askew Pictures, established in 2010 by Executive Television Producer Leslie Askew, boasts a rich history shaped by Leslie's extensive experience with major networks in Australia, Europe, and the U.S. Her notable contributions include working with SBS, Channel Nine (Australia), National Geographic, Al Jazeera, CBS, BET, PBS, History Channel, and CNN, where she played a pivotal role as a producer for the award-winning documentary series, CNN Heroes.

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Leslie's upbringing spanned Atlanta, Virginia Beach, and New York before completing high school at the Duke Ellington School for the Arts in Washington DC. She pursued Anthropology at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, and subsequently relocated to New York after graduating in 2000. In 2010, after a decade of dedicated work in documentaries and news, Leslie made the move to the Netherlands.

Askew Pictures is committed to narrating impactful stories that resonate with audiences. The company's inaugural film, "Caring for Country" (2013), in collaboration with The Yugul Mangi women rangers in Australia, chronicles the Indigenous rangers as they address challenges such as seasonal wildfires. In 2018, Leslie directed, produced, and edited the short film "Analog Man," which earned recognition at festivals in Europe, the U.S., and Mexico.

In 2021, Askew Pictures took on the development and executive production of the six-part travel series, 'Trail Towns,' for the Australian network SBS. The latest production delves into animal rights activism, following Joey Carbstorng undercover as he exposes the pork industry in the UK. Titled "Pignorant," the documentary is now available on Amazon Prime.

The diverse clientele of Askew Pictures reflects Leslie's broad expertise, ranging from managing social media platforms to developing feature-length documentaries and lifestyle series. Today, the company continues its mission to craft compelling narratives that resonate and contribute to the broader cultural dialogue.
